Why SIG Chooses LOK Grips

Damn this gun feels good. That’s the most consistent comment I’ve heard when shooters pick up the SIG Reserve Collection P226-XFIVE. The Reserve P226-XFIVE is beautifully designed pistol and the interface between the SIG and you, the shooter, is LOK Grip’s GridLOK grips. GridLOK grips have a hand filling palm swell and unique texture that sticks to your hand for optimal recoil control when shooting fast. There is no abrasion even after burning through boxes of cartridges.
When I spoke with the guys at SIG and ask why SIG chose LOK Grips for the first release of the Reserve Collection P226-XFIVE their answer was simple:
“We choose certain grips when it complements the performance, ergonomic, and aesthetic of the entire firearm. LOK Grips have been very popular in the competition circles as well as having a wide variety of materials and patterns. As far as the 226X5 Reserve in particular, LOK's GridLok grips gave a great blend of functional grip as well as matching the overall aesthetic of the firearm, which is why it was chosen.”
LOK Grips are stunningly beautiful but if you talk the talk, you better walk the walk as the expression goes, and LOK Grips does. They offer function and performance.
LOK also makes grips for SIG P238, P938, and the metal frame versions on the P320 and P365 like the AXG and SXG. I found with the original P320 guns I had to pay attention to my grip or I’d hit outside the A zone when I was running the gun fast. It was me not the SIG. Moving to the P320 AXG, the metal frame P320, was a totally different experience. It was like the gun was custom made for my hand. The flat trigger and grip angle easily fit into my style of shooting. The factory grips are flat and, honestly, there is a gap between the grip panel and my palm. I needed something to fill that space.
Best Carbon Fiber Grips for the SIG P320 AXG and SXG
LOK Grips carbon fiber grips have a sexy look to them. These grips are not textured but smooth, and they have a palm swell that fills that voids in my grip between the factory grip and my palm. With any gun, and you might be like this, you want to personalize it. And that is what I did with LOK Grips carbon fiber grips. That’s when I was introduced to LOK Grips carbon fiber grips. LOK also makes a matching carbon fiber backstrap. To round out the carbon fiber look on my SIG AXG, I also added a carbon fiber cover plate. This plate replaces the factory cover, and since I don’t run an optic on the AGX, the matching plate, is the perfect compliment to the grips and backstrap.
While I don’t carry AXG concealed carry, it is a full size pistol, the carbon fiber grips and back strap are smooth and would be snag free on and a SIG for every day carry. The carbon fiber grips are smooth but they are no way slippery.
LOK Grips carbon fiber grips offer a smooth, sexy finish.
How To Change Grips on a SIG AXG and SXG
My AXG Pro has a magwell, so I didn’t know how well the LOK carbon fiber grips would fit. I removed the magwell, then uscrewed the grip screws on either side. Easy. The backstrap is held in place with a roll pin. I used a roll pin punch and hammer to drive out the pin and the backstrap slide out of the frame. The LOK backstop slip into the frame perfectly and the grips mated with the frame and magwell flawlessly. It actually takes longer to describe how to replace the grips and backstrap than actually doing it.
On SIG AXG and SXG pistols, the backstrap is removed by punching out a roll pin. The LOK Grips back strap insert slides right in.
LOK Veloce Grips For AXG and SXG SIGs
If you are looking for more texture and a no-slip grip, then try LOK Veloce grips. Veloce grips come standard thickness, which is slightly thicker than factory grips, or palm swell, and are a mix of textures running multiple directions to prevent slippage and keep you on target. You can match the grip color and finish to your personality or customize your SIG with a one of a kind look.
In my option the Veloce grip panels offer a spiny texture that adheres well without abrasion. The match Veloce back strap solidifies your grip even when shooting in hot humid weather when your hands sweat. I tried a set of grips and back strap on my AXG and actually decreased my time when doing Bill Drills.
Veloce grips and backstrap combo offers plenty of spiny texture to your SIG without the abrasion.
