LOK Grips G10 Revolver Grips: Traction Combined With Speed

LOK Grips G10 Revolver Grips: Traction Combined With Speed

LOK G10 revolvers grips come in three sizes: 2-Finger Carry, 3-Finger Carry, and Palm Swell.
Compact revolvers are an excellent concealed carry choice especially when chambered in 357 Magnum. The problem with compact revolvers like the Smith & Wesson J-frames, Kimber K6S revolvers, and models 605 and 856 small frames from Taurus, is the grip can be small. A small grip is an asset for concealed carry, but when making a clean draw and firing accurate shots, a small grip can be a liability. LOK Grips makes G10 grips for Smith & WessonTaurusKimber and Rossi revolvers.

LOK Grips G10 Revolver GripsLOK Grips for revolvers come in three styles, 2-Finger Carry (left), 3-Finger Carry (center) and Palm Swell (right) completely cover the backstrap of the revolver frame and offer a hand filling palm swell and aggressive texture.

LOK 2-Finger Carry G10 Revolver Grips

If you are looking for G10 revolver grips for concealed carry, the LOK 2-Finger Carry grips offer ergonomic finger grooves that allow for a secure grip yet are still very low profile so they are easier to conceal carry. LOK 2-Finger grips have a rounded backstrap that cover the backstrap of the revolver frame. They also have smooth edges to prevent any snags while carrying and any hang ups when drawing from concealed carry.

A signature LOK grip texture, called Veloce, provides the right amount of grip texture with shooting comfort. The side panels and front grip strap with finger grooves have a golf ball like texture and the back strap have a course checkering. While the Veloce grip texture provides great traction in the palm and grip straps it is also comfortable to shoot hot 357 Magnum loads. The mix of aggressive textures ensure a no-slip shooting experience. The grip covers the revolver’s back strap and has a slight palm swell, so it fills your hand without being too big. You will need to tuck your small finger under the butt. It also allows for a high grip on the revolver which is important to control muzzle flip for faster follow-up shots. The LOK 2-Finger is scooped out in the left grip to allow use of speed loaders. LOK 2-Finger Carry G10 grips are ideal for someone with average to small size hands or someone who wants maximum conceivability without sacrificing performance.

LOK 2-Finger Carry G10 Revolver Grips on S&W J-Frame
The LOK 2-Finger Carry grip installed on a Smith & Wesson Model 640 J-frame offer a good compromise on grip size for easier concealability and shooting ease.

I installed a set of LOK 2-Finger Carry G10 grips on a Smith & Wesson Performance Center Pro Series Model 640. Installation was easy requiring one screw and the LOK grip fit perfectly. No wiggle, just a perfect fit. Shooting 357 Magnum from a J-frame or any small frame revolver is not exact what I would call fun. Most times your hands take a beating from recoil. With the LOK Grips, it was easier to manage recoil. It was also easy to get a high grip on the revolver for better recoil management.

I liked the 2-Finger Carry grips so much I wanted to try them on my Rossi RP63. This is a 6-shot 357 Magnum with a frame size in between small and medium. The LOK 2-Finger Carry grip helped to decrease the factory grip footprint while providing excellent control. Recoil was very manageable when shooting Magnums. Shooting 38 Specials was even easier especially when running Bill Drills. Installation on the Rossi RP63 was simple. It took longer to read the instructions than the actual process.

LOK 3-Finger Carry Revolver Grips

I have a Taurus Model 605 Executive Grade and like the smooth trigger and great finish, but the wood grips, while they look good, are a bit too retro for me. I wanted a different grip, in my opinion, the LOK 3-Finger Carry transformed the Taurus 605. LOK 3-Finger Carry revolver grips are slightly larger with three finger grooves. This grip provides more more surface area yet still keeps a low profile. The Veloce texture provide a sure grip and the grip is shaped like a tear drop so there is some palm swell. Running Bill Drills with the Taurus 605 and LOK 3-Finger Carry grip, I was able to easily control the revolver and after each string I noticed my speed was increasing. The LOK 3-Finger Carry also allows for a high hold and that is key for a performance replacement grip for a revolver.

The LOK 3-Finger Carry grip installed on a Taurus 605 Executive Grade offers slightly more grip real estate for more control.

Similar to the LOK 2-Finger Carry, the 3-Finger Carry has a wrap around design that fills your palm without being bulky. Shooting hot 357 Magnum ammo with the 3-Finger Carry grip on a small, lightweight revolver helps to decrease felt recoil. Shooting 38 Special is even easier.

If you want more control, the LOK 3-Finger Carry offers more grip. I’d recommend the 3-Finger Carry grip for shooters with average to large size hands

LOK Palm Swell Revolver Grips

If you are looking for a full size grip the LOK Palm Swell fills the palm of your hand and it slightly flares out at the butt. This means your entire hand is in contact with the grip to provide maximum texture adhesion to your palm and fingers. The front strap of the LOK Palm Swell features shallow finger grooves that are comfortable and help to place your hand in the right position for the best control.

LOK Palm Swell Revolver Grips
LOK Palm Swell revolver grips are full size, offering maximum control in either small or larger frame revolvers.

The entire surface of the Palm Swell gets LOK’s Veloce texture treatment. I placed the Palm Swell grips on a S&W J-frame in the hope the grips would take the edge off of hot 357 Magnum recoil. Did it ever. The Palm Swell grips fill your hand with a combination of aggressive Veloce textures that make it comfortable to shoot. There is no abrasion from the grip texture. Palm Swell grips are relived to allow use of speed loaders.

The Palm Swell LOK grip is a great choice for not only small frame revolvers but large frame revolvers like the Taurus Judge, Hunter and Tracker models. All three of these Taurus revolvers are chambered in serious revolver calibers like 44 Magnum, 45 Long Colt/.410, and bigger as well as 357 Magnum. The larger grip makes it easier and more comfortable to shoot. If you hunt with a revolver, you know you can’t count on the weather being your friend. Even wet, LOK Grips offer an excellent grasp so the first shot and follow-up shot are fast and on the mark.

LOK Grips Are Better G10 Grips

All three of the LOK revolver grip styles—2-Finger Carry, 3-Finger Carry, and Palm Swell—are machined from solid G10 to exacting tolerances so the grip fits the revolver frame with no slop. All three of these G10 grips also fill that gap behind the trigger guard that can slap your knuckles into submission under heavy, hot loads. Since G10 is very light weight it does not extra ounces so carrying a revolver fitted with LOK Grips is comfortable to carry all day. LOK Grip offers a large selection of colors and finishes for revolvers. LOK Grips are not only functional they are great looking. So if your barbecue gun needs some bling, then LOK Grips has you covered.
